Vulnerability In Business

I always believed that showing vulnerability was showing weakness.

In my mind, being an expert in my field meant that I was supposed to be strong, display leadership qualities, and never let anyone see me disappointed or sad. And never, ever, ever admit to failure.

But as I grew as a coach and a mentor, it became crystal clear to me that by showing vulnerability, I was actually showing that I was HUMAN.

The human condition is not unique to any of us.

We hurt. We cry. We feel disappointment, frustration, fear. It is through these emotions that we make real connections. This is how we show people that they are not alone.

But sharing vulnerability correctly is a skill! We need to learn how to use our stories the right way so we can have the impact we want.

So how do we bridge the gap between being an authority in our space and showing our humanness???

There is a fine line between being vulnerable and honest and being negative and complaining. And it's a line I see crossed a lot in direct sellers posts.....

Here's the video and some highlights from the training ---->>>>  How to Show Vulnerability in Your Business.

What IS Vulnerability??
Vulnerability is when you share your truth even though it opens you up to some uncomfortable feelings.  You may even feel like it is opening yourself up to potential judgement.  But that's OK!!!!!  To show vulnerability to is connect as a human to other humans!

Should You Show Vulnerability In Business?
I think so!!!  Showing vulnerability in your business shows others that you are HUMAN just like everyone else!  Spending all your time being the expert can actually cause disconnect in your business!

Why Vulnerability is SO Powerful.
It creates a way for us to connect again.  We are SO focused on our phones/TVs/computers...  we have lost part of what makes the human connection!  Sharing vulnerability in your business bridges that gap and creates true relationships.

The Difference Between Vulnerability and Complaining.
Anyone and their sister can complain on social media (we see it daily, right???)  The difference is that vulnerability connects - negativity repels.  Anytime you post - ask yourself - is this connecting me to others, or repelling them from me?

How To Tell Your Story Powerfully.
Be you.  Be human.  And if vulnerability is new to you.. GO SLOW!!!  Don't feel like you ned to be all or nothing.  Share a bit here and there.  Stay near your comfort level, don't go crazy right away, but push yourself a bit!
Can You Be An Expert and Still Be Vulnerable?
YES!  And you should use both parts of you in your business.  You are and expert.  And you are a human.  Show both and you will see amazing things happen in your business!

See you next week!
